DKGNA members,
I’m very optimistic going into 2025. We have a strong testing schedule in the Spring and Fall, we have an exciting annual meeting planned in Utah in May, and we just had an important election for Treasurer.
I believe 2025 will be a year of growth for the club. It’s essential to the club that each member renews their membership if you haven’t done so already.
It’s great that we had two very well-qualified members (Scott Jacob and John Calandra) run for Treasurer. Since the inception of the club seven years ago, we’ve always just had one individual run for each board position, so an election was never necessary. In the future, as other board seats open up, I hope we continue to have qualified members put their hats in the ring. Elections are good for the club, and I must thank both Scott and John for selflessly being willing to help the club.
Our club is trying to encourage more members to run the Solms and VGP. Both are difficult tests, but higher participation rates are important for the vibrancy of our club and for the quality of our dogs. In particular, the VGP participation rate is a small fraction of the dogs eligible, so if you can run your dog in the test, please do so. It’s a huge time commitment, but you’ll be well rewarded by having a much improved and highly trained dog.
I look forward to seeing as many of you at the annual meeting.
Until then, happy hunting!
Mark
